The company adds Milan Bergamo airport to its domestic network

From 28 May easyJet will connect Bergamo and Olbia with a daily flight

With the arrival in Milan Bergamo, easyJet will operate on all major Lombard airports, connecting Lombardy with over 61 national and European airports during the summer 2021

For the summer, the company also announces the opening of the route between Palermo and Amsterdam

Milan, 11 February 2021 – easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, will begin flying to and from Milan Bergamo airport from 28 May, connecting Bergamo and Olbia with a daily flight. The flight will take off from Olbia at 9.00 and will depart from Bergamo for Costa Smeralda at 11.00, every day of the week starting from May 28th to October 23rd.

Lombardy represents a key market for easyJet, which started operations at Milan Malpensa in 1998, where it subsequently opened a base in 2006, basing 21 Airbus A319, A320 and A321-Neo aircraft. The company has also been present in Milan Linate since 2009. From next summer easyJet will also start operating at Milan Bergamo airport, offering more choice to Lombard people living in the eastern part of the region and wishing to spend their holidays in Sardinia as well as to Sardinians who intend to visit Bergamo, Milan and all of Lombardy for business or pleasure. With the addition of Milan Bergamo, easyJet will serve 18 Italian airports, bringing the national and international routes connecting to the region to 65.

In addition, with the introduction of the Bergamo route, easyJet will add an additional connection from Olbia Costa Smeralda airport, where easyJet is the first airline in regard to the number of seats offered and destinations served, with as many as 20 national and international routes.

Thanks to the FLEX policy, easyJet guarantees its customers to be able to change their booking free of charge within 14 days before departure (net of any fare differences), should it be necessary to change their travel plans.

The company has also recently introduced a new fare, Standard Plus, which includes the benefits required by its most demanding customers, such as the “premium” seat, speedy boarding services, dedicated boarding for checked luggage and the guarantee of being able to carry two pieces of luggage in the cabin: a small one (45 x 36 x 20 cm) to be stored under the seat and a larger one (56 x 45 x 25 cm) to be stored in the overhead bins.

"We are thrilled to announce this new route and to start a collaboration with Milan Bergamo airport – comments Lorenzo Lagorio, easyJet Italy country manager -. The health emergency and the various restrictions have put a strain on the entire sector, but we believe it is essential to continue to expand our offer and intercept the travel demand of our customers. This new route also represents an opportunity to start a collaboration with Bergamo airport which we hope will be profitable and will generate further development opportunities in the future, as well as to expand the portfolio of routes with which we connect Olbia to more and more destinations in Italy and in Europe. The signs for next summer are positive and we sincerely hope that the continual progress in vaccination programs, in addition to the supplementary security measures we have introduced and those implemented by airports, will encourage Italians to book their holidays with trust."

NEW ROUTES FOR SUMMER 2021

In addition to the new connection between Bergamo and Olbia, next summer easyJet will return to connect Palermo and Amsterdam with 2 weekly flights, operated on Mondays and Fridays. Starting June 28, flights will take off from Amsterdam at 12.00 a.m. on Fridays and 11.15 a.m. on Mondays, and will depart from Sicily at 3.40 p.m. on Fridays and 3.15 p.m. on Mondays, until October 29.
